L’CHAIM & SHALOM
Our illustrious Kahuna Charles, has planned a great opportunity for us to take advantage of this fall at our Minister’s Conference (Sept. 28 & 29) & Mentor Training (Sept. 30-Oct. 1).
Dr. Gary McIntosh is a church growth expert & someone who is keenly interested in assisting pastors to refine their skills in pastoral leadership. He will be staying over with us during our Mentor Training.
Gary edits the Church Growth Network Newsletter Journal & the Journal of the American Society for Church Growth. He has also written many books that I know many of you have read:
1. Over Coming The Darkside Of Leadership
2. One Size Doesn’t Fit All
3. Church That Works
4. Staff Your Church For Growth
5. Beyond The First Visit
6. The Issachar Factor
7. Biblical Church Growth
8. How To Develop A Policy Manual
9. How To Develop A Pastoral Compensation Plan
10. The Exodus Principle
11. Finding Them; Keeping Them
12. Look Back-Leap Forward
& his latest book
13. One Church Four Generations
To make our Mentor training a benefit to us – I’m asking you to submit discussion questions from his books. He is a valuable resource that I think we can glean some real help in our ministries & churches. I’ll be calling you in the next few weeks to further elaborate on what information we need from you & to find out which of these books you have read.
I know many of you will be breaking for the summer & not having an LLC until fall but can I encourage you to have at least one serendipity event to keep everyone connected through the summer.
Also, I was looking over “Charles’s Blog” and not many of you are signed up. There are some great things being said. I’d encourage you to participate.
Also Also , I was re-reading some church leadership articles (found in our
region news letter) & and believe it or not, Charles is a pretty good writer. Just a thought, why don’t you attach to your monthly newsletter or weekly emails to one of his articles. It would be a great way for our congregations to hear from our Executive Minister.
Well, I’ve written too long an Epistle. When I call don’t tell your secretary to tell me you are in a staff meeting. Ha! Ha!
Shalom, Clint
P.S. Have you begun to encourage your pastors to start a small group.

Hi Clint,
I have read a couple of those books. Willing to read a couple more.
our LLC had our May meeting- and we will meet again during the summer for a BBQ.
We are losing a pastor to retirement, but gaining a pastor who is being called.
Blessings,
Corey
