Far West Area LLC - Ron & Skip leading - met Dec. 13th at Manette Community Church in Bremerton. We had a fun, productive meeting, enjoyed "Communicating for a Change" and discussing it. We found many practical and usable tools to use in our preaching and making ourselves better communicators. I love the aspect of authenticity and the goal of our preaching to actually transform lives (not just give information). This book hit us all where we live with the importance of the sermon coming from our heart... from our deep and growing relationship with God. Skip challenged us all to write and videotape a sermon for the group to critique, which is a great idea, but I think it scared the stuffing out of most of us. We will need to address this later.
Our guest speaker was Ann Borquist, one of our ABC missionaries to Brazil, who is on home assignment. She had us singing songs in Portuguese, and shared of their ministry of training leaders who are now impacting ministry all around the globe. THAT was exciting... to see how God uses this couple to equip, train, and send out another generation of leadership.
I am having yet another birthday, and the group surprised me wearing festive Hawaiian shirts in my honor. Thanks, Skip! Unfortunately, Ann captured that on film.
We prayed for Joe Lancaster & Terry Oliver who couldn't be with us because of recent surgeries. Please remember their recoveries in your prayers. Skip gave us a report on the Chehalis church -- God's miraculous work in the midst of a painful situation.
We are growing deeper in our commitment to Christ and each other as we study, work, and pray together. That is a beautiful thing to see happening in the LLC. We really have a great group of pastors who serve our churches here in the Far West.
Christmas blessings to you all. Looking forward to serving with you in 2008.
Ron (who didn't win his fantasy football league AGAIN this year)
P.S. Lumpia, birthday cake, and Snowman Soup were great additions to this month's meeting!

Hey Ronald!
Are you confabulating about the content of my blogulation? I was just trying to write in the style of Peter Parker, uh, I mean Parker Palmer. You know-- all meaningistic and spirituated(I'm not as gifted as Worth who was able to actually quote meaningfully from Parker's book). By the way, do they make Hawaiian shirts in Christmas Red and Green? Keep up the good work, my friend, we need you around to keep us on our toes. And Merry Christmas to you and Terry. JPA
